Terms of Service

Who these terms are with

They apply to the person or institution holding the account. If you are signing up on behalf of a university or department, you are confirming you may agree to these terms for them.

Students who check in to a class are not party to this agreement. Their relationship is with their institution, which decides what to record and why.

Your responsibilities

Quorum holds data about people who are not our customers, so most of what you take on concerns them.

• You must have the right to enter the student data you upload, and to record attendance the way you have configured it.
• You are responsible for telling your students what is being collected. Attendance check-ins record a device identifier, and record approximate location whenever you enable a geofence — students should know that before they scan.
• You must keep your account credentials to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
• You must not use Quorum to break the law, or to collect data your institution has not authorised.

What we are responsible for

• Running the service with reasonable care and keeping your data available to you.
• Not selling your data or your students' data, and not using it for advertising.
• Telling you if something goes materially wrong with your data.

We do not promise the service will never be unavailable. It runs on third-party infrastructure and depends on networks outside our control.

Attendance is a record, not proof

Quorum makes proxy attendance harder. It does not make it impossible. Location comes from the student's own browser and can be refused or altered; device identification can be worked around by someone determined enough.

Treat attendance data as strong evidence, not as proof. Decisions with academic consequences — failing a student, opening a misconduct case — remain yours, and should involve the student rather than resting on our data alone.

Plans, trials and payment

• Free accounts have usage limits. Paid plans raise them, and the current prices are on the pricing page.
• Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial, once per account. A card is collected up front and charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal — it does not refund the period you are in, and you keep access until that period ends.
• You may pause a subscription for up to 60 days instead of cancelling. A paused account keeps its data at Free plan limits.
• Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

Paying by bank transfer

Customers in Egypt may pay by InstaPay instead of by card. That works differently and the difference matters:

• A transfer buys a fixed period. It cannot renew automatically, so access ends when the period does unless another transfer is made and approved.
• We activate the plan after matching your transfer against the receiving account, usually within one working day. Submitting a reference is not payment on its own.
• We will warn you before a period ends. It remains your responsibility to renew in time.
• Prices in Egyptian pounds are set separately from our dollar prices and are not a currency conversion of them.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds for time already elapsed on a plan. If something has gone wrong — you were charged twice, or billed after cancelling — write to support@quorumqr.app and we will put it right.

Your data stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you put into Quorum. We claim no rights over your student lists, attendance records or coursework beyond what is needed to run the service for you.

Nothing is deleted when a plan lapses. Your groups, students and history remain readable at Free plan limits, which restrict creating new things rather than reaching old ones.

Ending the agreement

• You may stop using Quorum at any time. Cancelling a subscription is done from your account settings.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used unlawfully, or puts other customers at risk. Except where the law requires otherwise, we will tell you why and give you a chance to retrieve your data.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for academic decisions you make using data from the service.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Quorum after that means you accept the new version.
